A trained economist, Martin worked at the Bank of England and Goldman Sachs before joining New Philanthropy Capital in 2001 as Head of Research. He was appointed Chief Executive of New Philanthropy Capital in 2008 and worked there until 2011, when he rejoined the private sector as Economist at Fulcrum Asset Management. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees of Pro Bono Economics, which he co-founded in 2009, and has recently been appointed as Director of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
